LAHORE: A three-year-old boy died of critical head injuries incurred by his stepfather who tortured him over a minor issue in the Raiwind area here on Thursday.

The police said the incident occurred in Qasim Garden where the suspect Nadeem Umar exchanged harsh words with his wife.

Meanwhile, he got angry with his wife’s child from a previous marriage. He beat the boy, identified as Abbas, severely and knocked his head against a wall, a police official said. As a result of the torture, the child suffered multiple head injuries. He was shifted to a local hospital where he died.

The suspect fled the scene and the police shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy. The police would lodge a case after receiving a complaint, the official said.
