RAWALPINDI: One person died and 115 more from Covid-19 cases were reported in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Saturday.

According to Rawalpindi Health Authority, Munshi Khan, 34, resident of Adamjee Road, was admitted to the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) where he died.

Meanwhile, the administration of a school in Islamabad, which was sealed on Friday, refuted the district health officer’s claim that the institute had reported three cases.

The principal of Kurri Headstart campus, Nadia Niaz, said only one case was reported. She said 52 samples were collected from the school and only one was found positive. District Health Officer Dr Zaeem Zia was not available for comments.

Officials of the capital administration said during the last 24 hours 4,231 tests were conducted out of which results of 89 people were positive. According to the officials, the positivity rate stood at 2.10pc.

The infection ratio in Rawalpindi district, on the other hand, was recorded at 2.37pc as 1,097 samples were sent for testing which found the virus in 26 people.

There are 572 active patients in the district — 62 in hospitals and 510 home isolated.

Three cases were reported from Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonments, two from city areas, 12 from Potohar Town, one patient each from Taxila, Kallar Syedan and Murree and two patients arrived from Chakwal and one each from Islamabad, Attock, Jhelum and Gujrat.

There are 62 patients admitted to different hospitals — four in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, three in Holy Family Hospital, 17 in Fauji Foundation Hospital, 36 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, one patient each in Hearts International Hospital and Begum Akhter Sultana Memorial Trust Hospital.

Three of the patients are on ventilators, 46 on oxygen and 13 are stable.
