PESHAWAR: Awami National Party provincial president Aimal Wali Khan has said that his party will ensure that the local bodies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are granted full autonomy.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he asked party workers to run an effective campaign for the second phase of the local body elections in the province. He directed the district organisers and workers to fully participate in the election campaign and take the party’s manifesto to every household.

Mr Aimal Wali said that the district-level organisations of the party could play key role in disseminating the party’s manifesto. He said that the masses should express their resentment against the government’s policies through ballot papers in the local body elections.

He said that ANP workers and leaders had rendered matchless sacrifices for peace and stability in the region. He said that even the archrivals of ANP had acknowledged the party’s sacrifices for restoration of peace in the province. He warned the KP government to restrain from interfering in the electoral process. He said that the government should not use its machinery during the election process.
