ABBOTTABAD: Galiyat received light snowfall on Tuesday, turning weather chilly, locals and Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) officials told Dawn on Tuesday.

“Snowfall started early in the morning and continued for about two hours. However, later rain started, melting the snow,” Sardar Khalid, a local resident, told Dawn on phone.

He said the rain continued intermittently.

Meanwhile, GDA spokesman Ahsan Hameed said Galiyat received the 9th spell of snowfall on Tuesday morning, though it was for a short time, turning weather cold.

Sharing the weather forecast, he said intermittent snowfall coupled with rain was expected on Tuesday night till Friday.

The official said though roads were clear for traffic, snow and debris-removing machinery had been moved to the area to ensure that the roads, especially the main Abbottabad-Bariyan Road remained open to traffic in case of heavy snowfall and unexpected landslides.
