ISLAMABAD: Ethiopia is set to establish its permanent mission in Pakistan soon, a top Ethiopian official said on Tuesday.

Ambassador Redwan Hussein, the Ethiopian state minister for Foreign Affairs, made this announcement during an interaction with Board of Investment (BoI) Chairman Azfar Ahsan.

The minister identified value-added agro-processing and garment manufacturing as sectors of potential investment in Pakistan, saying that experience-sharing in poverty alleviation represents promising avenues for both countries.

Ambassador Redwan also said that his country was looking for joint ventures with Pakistan in value-added agriculture and food processing.

During their meeting, Mr Ahsan extended an invitation to Ethiopian investors to participate in the ‘Pakistan Investment Summit’, which will be held on March 30-31.

This would provide an opportunity to market the investment potential of Pakistan, promote sectoral match-making and attract investments in all priority sectors as well as special economic zones in Pakistan.

Mr Ahsan said that Ethiopia can come to rely on Pakistan as a trusted all-weather partner in the Global South. He said the two countries had similar structures and developmental experiences which made them perfect partners of one another.
