DADU: An FIR of the Feb 3 incident of harassment of a woman student was registered at the Jamshoro police station on Tuesday on the intervention of SSP Javed Baloch.

Almas Behan, a student of sociology department of the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, had on Feb 3 lodged a complaint at the women protection cell on the campus stating that two youths riding a motorcycle and backed by six other persons riding a car harassed her while she was on her way to her hostel room. She stated that the bike riders blocked her way and snatched the face mask she was wearing. They tried to kidnap her but when she raised a hue and cry, they beat her up and sped away, she added.

Ms Behan stopped attending her classes and returned to her home in Sujawal. Since then, she and her family members had been making attempts to get an FIR of the incident registered.

SSP Baloch intervened 19 days after the incident. Eventually, the FIR (43/22) was registered under sections 341 and 509 of PPC on behalf of the state on the complaint of ASI Shafi Mohammad Shah against unknown suspects.
