NAROWAL: The Sialkot police arrested 150 for flying kites and selling kites in violation of the Punjab Prohibition of Kite Flying (Amendment) Ordinance, 2007.

The police also seized 17,000 kite strings, illegal weapons, sound system, fireworks and other equipment from the suspects.

The police said they identified kite-flying spots and violators through drone cameras, human resources and surveillance from high places with binoculars.

The action was taken after certain elements announced on social media that they would celebrate the Basant festival in Sialkot on February 27. The police asked the citizens to refrain from illegal activities.

ACTION: The Sabz Pir station house officer (SHO) and a constable were fired for abuse of power here in Sialkot.

SI Naeem was found caught misusing his authority. Also, constable Salamat Ali was fired a week ago after a departmental inquiry into violating aerial firing, and sound system rules at his brother’s wedding.
