ISLAMABAD: Two people lost their lives to Covid-19 in Rawalpindi on Thursday whereas 119 new cases surfaced in Islamabad district.

The number of cases decreased in Rawalpindi district with 29 people testing positive and the positivity ratio of 2.5 per cent.

The positivity ratio in the capital was recorded at 2.3pc.

The deceased were identified as Nasreen Akhter, 55, resident of Akbar Market, and Sher Khan, 80, of Kalar Syedan.

Officials of the capital administration said during the last 24 hours 5,074 tests were conducted in the capital.

Out of the total cases, 32 were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 22 in 20-29, 21 in 40-49, 13 in 50-59, 11 in 10-19, nine in 60-69, seven in 0-9, three in 70-79 and one in 80 and above.

Likewise, 15 cases were reported from Rawat, eight each in Loi Bher and I-8, four in F-10, two each in I-9, G-10, Bhara Kahu and Sohan and one each in E-11, F-8, F-11, F-6, I-10, G-9, G-13, G-11, G-8, G-14, Koral, Alipur, H-8, Model Town, Humak and Khanna.

There are 533 active cases in the capital. As many as 71 are admitted in different hospitals, 61 are on oxygen support and nine are on ventilators.

In Rawalpindi district, 27 patients recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours.

According to the health authority’s data, 1,158 samples were collected out of which 1,129 were declared negative.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 348 active patients - 37 in hospitals and 311 home isolated.

Six patients were reported from different parts of Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment, one from city areas and 10 patients were reported from Potohar Town. Two patients each were reported from Gujar Khan and Kallar Syedan while one patient each from Kotli Sattian, Murree and Taxila. Four patients arrived from Islamabad and one patient from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

There are 37 patients admitted in different hospitals of Rawalpindi city, including two at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 10 at Fauji Foundation Hospital and 25 at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology.

There are two patients on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 31 on oxygen support and four are stable.
