ISLAMABAD: A decline was seen in the positivity ratio of Covid-19 cases in Islamabad and Rawalpindi districts on Friday with the numbers recorded at 1.6pc and 1.1pc, respectively.
As many as 62 people were found infected with the virus in the capital and 12 in Rawalpindi district.
Officials of the capital administration said during the last 24 hours 3,748 tests were conducted. A total of 15 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 12 in the age bracket of 20-29, 10 were in their 40s, six each were in the age group of 10-19 and 60-69, five in 0-9 and 50-59 and three were in their 70s. Likewise, five cases were reported from Lohi Bher, followed by three each from G-10 and H-8, two each from F-10, Rawat, F-11, G-9, G-13, G-11, G-5 and H-9 and one each from E-11, F-8, F-6, G-15, G-8, Koral and F-15.
There are currently 536 active cases, out of which 74 are admitted to hospitals, 65 are on oxygen support and eight on ventilator.
Furthermore, 52 patients recovered from the disease in Rawalpindi district during the last 24 hours.
According to the health authority’s data, the positivity ratio of Covid-19 cases in the district reduced from 2.5pc (Thursday) to 1.1pc (Friday). A total of 1,010 samples were collected out of which 998 were declared negative.
On the other hand, there are 306 active patients in Rawalpindi district, with 35 admitted to hospitals and 271 patients are home isolated. Two patients were reported from different parts of Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonments, two were from the city areas and four patients were from Potohar Town.
One patient each surfaced in Kallar Syedan and Murree, respectively, while one patient each arrived from Islamabad and Jhelum.
There are 35 patients admitted to different hospitals of Rawalpindi city out of whom three were in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 10 in Fauji Foundation Hospital and 22 patients were in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU).
There are two patients on ventilators, 27 on oxygen support and six are stable.
Meanwhile, 5,552,661 people, including 44,640 health workers, have so far been vaccinated against the fatal disease since the vaccination drive started on March 10, 2021.
Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal urged residents to get vaccinated as soon as possible as immunisation against Covid-19 was the only way one can be protected against the deadly virus.
He said free of cost vaccination was being provided to residents at their doorsteps.
