LAHORE: In a bid to remove system constraints and ensure provision of uninterrupted electricity transmission and distribution to the consumers, the National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC) is all set to upgrade its 220 kV ISPR (Islamabad-Peshawar Road)-Sangjani Grid Station by installing 160 MVA transformer on Sunday (today).
The installation of transformer will enhance the transmission capacity of the grid station, resulting in smooth power supply with improved voltage profile for a number of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) consumers, says a spokesperson for the NTDC.
The spokesman said that in order to carry out the installation work of transformer, the power shutdown on all respective 11kV feeders of IESCO will be observed from 7am to 7pm. “The feeders, which would remain inoperative during the installation work, include Paswal, M.V.H.S (D-17), M.P.C.H.S (B-17),Wapda Town, AWT-4, E.C.H.S (D-18), Sangjani, Valley, S.D.W and Shah Allah Ditta. However, load management on feeders emanating from 132kV KTM, MES, Kamalabad, Satellite Town, I-8, Sowan, Rawal, I-10, G-13, H-11, NUST, Pir Wadhai and Zero Point will be observed on a need basis,” the spokesperson claimed.
The NTDC operates 61 grid stations and transmission lines (220 and 500kV) system across the country. These include 13 in Islamabad, followed by Lahore having 24, 11 in Multan, 10 in Hyderabad and five in Quetta. Among 61, the 220 KV ISPR-Sangjani grid had been commissioned on Dec17, 1998 with three 160MVA transformers and allied 220kV / 132kV double circuit transmission line. The grid station is being fed through 220KV double circuit Rawat – ISPR and 220KV Tarbela – ISPR and 220KV Burhan – ISPR Single Circuits. Two 132/11KV Power transformers of 10/13MVA each are also installed at the G/Stn.
For 220KV bays, double bus bar with one and half breaker scheme and 132KV bays double bus bar with single breaker scheme is used.
