PESHAWAR: One terrorist was killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan tribal district on Saturday, the military said in a statement.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted following reports about the presence of terrorists in the area. The terrorist died during a gunbattle with security forces.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered.

The ISPR said that the deceased was involved in terrorist activities against the security forces.

Area people appreciated the operation and expressed their support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area, the statement said.

Security forces had conducted operations in North Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan districts on Thursday as well in which eight terrorists were killed, it said.
