KOHAT: District development advisory committee chairman Ziaullah Bangash here on Tuesday laid the foundations of a 68-bed hospital and a school in Kacha Pakha area, which lies on the junction of Kohat, Hangu and Orakzai districts.

Speaking on the occasion, former Khateeb of Hangu Jawad Hussain Jawadi said the hospital would facilitate the residents of border areas of the three districts.

He said the hospital and school would be constructed with the help of philanthropists. He appealed to the ulema, and well-off people of Hangu, Kohat and Orakzai to donate generously for the timely completion of the two projects.

He said a local academy had been established three decades ago on donations, which provided education to the orphaned children.

Mr Jawadi also demanded of the lawmaker to order construction of a road to the hospital and school, installation of streetlights and putting in place security arrangements.

Mr Bangash promised fulfilling the demands of local residents.

DRUG TRAFFICKER HELD: The police on Tuesday arrested a drug trafficker while trying to smuggle hashish from Orakzai district to southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on a motorcycle.

SHO Junglekhel Mohammad Afzal said six kilogrammes of hashish was seized from the smuggler, Nauman Ahmed, a resident of Naway Kallay area, on the on the Biana bypass road.

He said the police had registered FIR against the drug peddler, according to a statement.

POLICEMEN WARNED: Kohat division police chief Tahir Ayub has said personnel involved in corrupt practices will be penalised.

Addressing policemen of Orakzai district at his office on Tuesday, he asked them to discharge their duties honestly. He said there was no room for the black sheep in the force.

He asked them to use their energies in combating crime, keeping law and order, and providing justice to people.

Later, he distributed commendation certificates among the policemen, who had foiled an attempt of smuggling a huge quantity of ice and hashish.
