LAHORE: The Kot Lakhpat police on Wednesday lodged a murder case against a woman for allegedly killing her young daughter for ‘honour’.

The police said the 17-year-old Laiba died in a local hospital allegedly from poisoning.

The deceased girl’s father alleged that his wife had spiked water with poison and gave it to Laiba to drink in a bid to kill her over having relations with a young man of the area.

He told the police that his wife Saira had been admonishing Laiba for having relations with the young man.

However, he said, as the girl continued the relationship, Saira planned to kill her when he was out for a work.

On the father’s complaint, Kot Lakphat police registered a murder case against the suspect and moved the body to the city morgue for an autopsy.

SHOT DEAD: A young man was allegedly shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists in Nishtar Colony here on Wednesday.

A resident of Kohat, Dilawar was living in a rented house in Nishtar Colony to earn livelihood. The police suspect he may have been murdered over an enmity with someone from his native city.

A police official said Dilawar was going to market when two armed men on a motorbike shot him and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.

He was shifted to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead, he said, adding that the police teams were trying to get footage of the CCTV cameras to trace the suspects.

The body has been shifted to city morgue for an autopsy.
