QUETTA: A man along with his brother gunned down his former wife and five other members of her family, including a six-year-old girl, in the Nawan Killi area, a locality on the outskirts of Quetta, on the night between Friday and Saturday.
According to the police, among the deceased are the woman’s mother, father, a brother, a sister, and another relative.
They said Wali Khan along with his brother Saddam barged into the house of his former wife whom he had divorced some time ago and demanded the custody of their son, who had been living with her since their divorce.
The mother refused to hand over the son to the father.
After an altercation on the issue, the two brothers opened fire on the whole family.
The woman and her mother and father died on the spot while her 15-year-old brother, six-year-old sister and another relative received bullet injuries.
The injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital, but they died during treatment.
According to sources, Wali and his brother fled the area after committing the crime.
Quetta’s SSP (Operation) Abdullah Qambrani said the police have arrested Wali Khan on Saturday evening.
He said the police are conducting raids for the arrest of his brother.
The police identified two deceased as Wali’s former wife Hanifa and her father Mohammad Hanif.
