LARKANA: Power supply to the administration block and some other offices of the Shaheed Mohtaram Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) was cut off on Tuesday after the institution failed to clear its outstanding dues amounting to over Rs412.3 million.

The Sukkur Electric Supply Company (Sepco) has also warned that all 10 power connections of the institution will be cut off if payment of the dues was further delayed.

According to sources, the offices affected by the Sepco action included those of the vice chancellor, registrar and finance director.

The Larkana Sepco executive engineer (operation), Shah Mohammed Bajkani, in his letter to the SMBBMU officials on Feb 15 had reminded them of the accumulated dues and advised them to ensure immediate payment to avoid inconvenience.
