THE horrific bomb blast in a mosque in Peshawar yet again highlights the precarious situation the country is in. The resumption of terrorist activities in recent times has resulted in the loss of scores of precious lives.

The tragedy in Peshawar yet again showed that the security apparatus could not preempt the attack despite the site being a very sensitive location in the context of the fresh wave of such attacks.

Pakistan currently finds itself in a very difficult geopolitical situation with many characters actively trying to destabilise the country. There are many factors that make the country a hit point, such as Pakistan’s close association with China and the future of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the arrival of the Australian cricket team after almost quarter of a century, and the neutral stance the country has taken in the rapidly changing global scenario. India, our eternal enemy, is always trying to find ways to defame and malign the country.

The recent blast in Peshawar has again shown that our enemies are always ready to do whatever they can to harm the country.

Therefore, it is necessary for the intelligence and security apparatus to be alert under the circumstances and work together to curb this re-emergence of terror. Our security forces and people have sacrificed their lives to end this menace, and we cannot afford to let it re-emerge.
