KARACHI: A man and his two young sons were run over by a trailer on ICI Bridge, police said on Friday.

Docks SHO Pervez Solangi said that Zubair, 50, and his sons — Ubaid, 20, and Noman, 22, — worked as labourer in Agra Taj Colony in Lyari. They were heading home in Gulshan-i-Sikanderabad in Keamari on a motorbike when a fast-moving trailer hit their two-wheeler and crushed them.

The trailer driver managed to escape from the scene leaving behind the vehicle that was impounded by the police for investigation. The bodies were shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for legal formalities.

‘Mugger who killed citizen held’

Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a suspect in an injured condition after an ‘encounter’ in Ittehad Town.

They said the suspect, identified as Muhammad Tariq, had allegedly gunned down Mahtab Ahmed when he resisted a bid to snatch his mobile phone in Ittehad Town on Dec 3, 2021. A police spokesperson said that two suspects were identified with the help of CCTV footage and Tariq was arrested following a shoot-out with police.

The suspect along with his several accomplices was said to be involved in several incidents of mugging in the city.
