LARKANA: The fate of over 90 students of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Law College (SBBLC) hangs in the balance as they fear inordinate delay by Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur in the announcement of final year results may lead them to miss out on graduate assessment test and judiciary commission’s examinations.

Representatives of the affected students, Ms Moomal Qureshi and Ms Sumaya Soomro, told Dawn on Saturday that they got admission to three-year degree programme LLB-3 in 2017 in the university, which took the final year examinations in June 2021.

The examinations for the first and second years were conducted smoothly according to schedule but the final year examination had been delayed due to a variety of reasons, they said.

They said that whenever they approached the university for information they were told that the result was almost ready but it was not being declared on different excuses.

They said that schedule of examinations, which were to be held in 2019, had already been disturbed. “We are already late and further delay will waste the precious time that we need to prepare for and appear in law examinations of Higher Education Commission and recruitment tests for positions in judiciary commission,” they said.

They said that since the age was a serious issue for the final year students the delay in the announcement of results would certainly affect the age limit for eligibility for sitting different examinations.

In addition, they would also face difficulty in enrolment with Sindh Bar Council, said the sources. Currently, about 600-700 students who had taken the final year examination at eight affiliated colleges of the university were waiting for the results, said the sources.

The delay might become a big obstruction in their appearing in examinations for the posts of civil judge for which the age limit was 30 years, said the sources.

The students urged the university to immediately announce the results so that they could sit different examinations, which were mandatory for their career’s progression.
