RAWALPINDI: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) emir Sirajul Haq on Sunday said new elections were the only solution to all problems being faced by the country as the incumbent PTI government has failed to deliver.

He said the prime minister was saying that he is training the nation but people were fed up with his policies and inability to run the country.

“New elections are only panacea of the problems faced by people. After the no-trust motion, if PTI is replaced by PML-N or PPP what will be the change,” he said.

“He (Imran Khan) failed to deliver in the past three-and-a-half years. Instead of working to end miseries of the common man, he is addressing government-sponsored public meetings,” he said while addressing a sit-in in front of Liaquat Bagh.

Says nation tried all three parties and now it wants to run country on Islamic system

The day-long protest was part of JI’s 101 sit-in protests being staged across the country. As other opposition parties are trying to dislodge the PTI government through the no-trust move, the JI leadership has opted for the mass contact and highlighting public issues.

“People want to get rid of old faces. The nation should be given a chance to decide who they support. The nation has tried all three parties and now they want to run the country on the Islamic system,” he said.

He said PM Khan was conducting public meetings on government expenditures to save his seat and using bad language against institutions.

Sirajul Haq said the prime minister had realised that he did not have time to save his seat now.

“Today, the prime minister has no performance to show, he has started meetings again instead of working,” he said.

He said people should stand up for their rights and JI would provide them a neat and clean leadership. He said that PPP, PML-N and PTI imposed IMF on the country and the national economy collapsed as a result of the wrong policies of the rulers.

Talking about restrictions on media, the JI chief said even in dictatorships nobody had dared to impose a ban on the media like Imran Khan has done. He said it was the media which promoted Imran Khan but after coming to power he worked to crush it.

“This is the age of technology which has to be developed to make employment opportunities for the people. But the prime minister is giving advice to people to raise chickens to make money.

“Imran Khan thinks that by making petrol cheaper by Rs10 per litre, he has done a favour to the nation. The prices of rice, sugar and flour have gone beyond the reach of the common man. PTI destroyed the agricultural country,” he said.
