RAWALPINDI: PML-N leader and former senator Chaudhry Tanvir Khan, who was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday and subsequently handed over to the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab, was shifted to Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) after he experienced chest pain on Sunday.
According to sources, following a first medical assessment, the PML-N leader was brought to the hospital under strict security and is expected to go through an angiography test on Monday.
Earlier on Sunday, the PML-N leader was produced before the court of duty magistrate for remand custody by ACE officials.

He was brought to the court in an armoured vehicle amid tight security. Mr Khan was remanded in ACE custody for one day.
Sources said senior medical staff members conducted blood tests and electrocardiogram (ECG). Mr Khan had been abroad due to illness and came to Pakistan to attend his son’s wedding when he was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Jinnah International Airport while he was leaving Pakistan on Friday as his name had been placed on the watch list in connection with a corruption case registered by ACE Punjab.
After being brought from Karachi by the ACE team headed by Zulfiqar Bazid, Mr Khan was shifted to Rawalpindi Cantonment police station’s lock-up on Saturday.
According to ACE, the PML-N leader was arrested in connection with a case registered against him on March 8, 2022. ACE Director Naeemullah Bhatti formed an investigation team consisting of Circle Officer (Rawalpindi) Zulfiqar Bazid, Circle Officer (Attock) Sanaullah and others.
Mr Khan’s son Danial Chaudhry, Osama Chaudhry and his lawyers including a large number of league workers reached the police station as soon as they were informed about his shift to the police station, instead of ACE.
A first information report (FIR) against Mr Khan was registered on the complaint of director general of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Amara Khan.
Before being arrested by FIA, the ACE team had conducted a raid at his residence in Rawalpindi on Thursday night, but he could not be captured. Mr Khan retired as a senator in March 2021 and was elected as member of the upper house of Parliament in 2015 on a PML-N ticket.
The PML-N leader was accused of occupying a portion of land measuring 64 kanals which belongs to the government in Rawalpindi.
