KOHAT: Twenty-five passengers, including children and women, were injured in separate road accidents here on Monday.

Twenty-two passengers were injured when a coach collided head-on with the pick-up van in Gumbat area. The passenger coach was going to Rawalpindi.

The injured also included women and children. They were rushed to the Gumbat Civil Hospital and the District Headquarters Hospital, Kohat.

A child and two women were hurt when a truck turned turtle on the Jana De Malocho Mills Road. The injured were shifted to the DHQ Hospital.

Doctors said mostly the passengers were brought with broken bones and head injuries.

DRUG PEDDLERS HELD: The police on Monday claimed to have arrested 26 drug peddlers during an operation in all the five circles of Kohat, including Saddar, City, Headquarters, Darra Adamkhel and Lachi.

Drugs and weapons were recovered from them, according to a statement issued from the office of the district police officer Mohammad Suleman.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Hangu district police officer Ikramullah Khan distributed scholarships cheques among the children of 13 police martyrs on Monday.

Speaking at the function on the occasion, he said the money would be spent on the higher education of children of police martyrs.

He added that it was the responsibility of the department to bear all expenses of the families of the martyrs as they had laid down their lives in the line of duty. He said the supreme sacrifices of the martyred policemen would be remembered forever.
