PESHAWAR: Representatives of Shia and Christian communities here on Monday stressed the need for strengthening interfaith harmony to defeat the scourge of terrorism.

These views were expressed by leaders of both the communities at a meeting held at All Saints Church, Kohati Gate.

A delegation of Shia community led by Allama Syed Jamil Hassan Sherazi visited the church to thank the Christian community for extending sympathies to the people affected by the devastating suicide bombing on a mosque in Koocha Risaldar on March 4.

The priests headed by vicar Shahzad Murad of All Saints Church welcomed the guests and said the people irrespective of their religious affiliations should extend support to each other while in need.

Sharing views about the terror acts in parts of the country, the representatives of both the communities said it was need of the hour to defeat terrorism through interfaith harmony.

Prominent among the participants were Samuel Asghar, Mehmood Jan, Zahid Ali Askari, Farzand Ali Bangash, Syed Ibrar Jafari, Syed Akbar Shah, Javaid Iqbal, Jalal Hussain Toori and Syed Azhar Ali Shah.
