KHYBER: Relief goods loaded in 19 trucks donated by Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan were handed over to Afghan authorities on humanitarian basis at Torkham border on Thursday.

Senior vice-president of Al-Khidmat Foundation Khalid Waqas said on the occasion that they had so far donated 1,060 tonnes of relief goods loaded in 126 trucks, mostly consisting of food items, medicines and clothing to the impoverished Afghani families since Taliban came into power in the country in August last year.

He said that the relief goods would be distributed among the displaced families of Nangarhar, Kabul, Kandahar, Helmand and northern parts of Afghanistan.

Separately, the Customs Health Care Society also donated seven containers of food assistance to the needy Afghans at Torkham.

Federal Tax Ombudsman Asif Mehmud Jah handed over the relief goods to Pakistan consul general in Jalalabad Abidullah at the border crossing.

He said on the occasion that the society had so far sent 39 containers of relief goods, mostly consisting of food items especially dry milk and rice, for malnourished Afghan children and their mothers.

NADRA: General councillor-elect from Bazaar-Zakhakhel area Attaullah Afridi has demanded of the Nadra authorities to open one of their centres in the area to facilitate locals to get timely Computerised National Identity Cards.

Talking to journalists in Landi Kotal Press Club on Thursday, he said that residents of Bazaar-Zakhakhel had to visit Landi Kotal Nadra centre for acquiring their CNICs by spending extra money and waiting for long time.

He said that they had to wait for days in long queues to get their names registered at the Nadra centre in Landi Kotal but even then they were not issued the cards on time.

CHEQUES: DPO Mohammad Imran distributed cheques worth Rs10 million among the heirs of two martyred policemen at police training centre in Shah Kas, Jamrud.

The cheques were received by the heirs of constable Kalimullah and Abdul Latif, who were martyred in two separate incidents of terrorism.
