SWABI: A team of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology clinched the first gold medal of the 2021 International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) held at the GIK Institute here the other day.
The Team Pentateuch comprised Omar Kashif Majeed, Mohammad Zulfiqar Ali and Hamza Hasan Ellahi.
Managing Director of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) Osman Nasir was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of the ICPC Asia Topi Regional Onsite Event.
The second gold medal was won by Aadesh Kumar, Wahaj Ameen and Zohaib Yousuf from Team Trojans-1 of the NU-FAST Karachi.
Mohammad Usama Azam, Syed Mohammad Abdur Rafay and Rao Ubaidullah of Team SignBit from NU-FAST Islamabad won the third gold medal.
The fourth gold medal was won by Mohammad Baqir, Mohammad Waleed Khalid and Mohammad Kashif Ali Tariq of Team Algo Geeks from the Punjab University College of Information Technology. The winners of the first gold medal will be further participating in the 46th ICPC World Finals expected to be held in Australia.
Forty-seven teams comprising 141 contestants from different universities of Pakistan participated in the regional contest.
Meanwhile, the visiting faculty of the University of Swabi here on Tuesday demanded increase in their salary according to the prevailing inflation.
They said that it had become difficult for them to meet the needs of their families amid sky-rocketing prices of essential items. The visiting faculty members threatened to boycott the classes if their salary was not increased forthwith.
