TAXILA: Two persons were killed and three injured in separate incidents in Hassanabdal and Taxila police station areas on Tuesday, police and hospital sources said.

In the first incident, a man was killed and his wife and two minor children were injured when their car rammed into a stationary truck on G.T. Road in the limits of Hassanabdal police station.

Separately a man was shot dead over a monetary dispute in Mohallah Mashraqiabad in the limits of Taxila police station. Wali Khan reported to police that his brother Wali Khan,24, had a monetary dispute with Wazeer Gull.

On Tuesday when he went to demand his money, the accused along with his son and nephew opened fire on him resultantly he received bullet injuries and died on way to hospital.

Respective police have registered separate cases and started further investigation.

Four shopkeepers booked

The local administration booked four shopkeepers and imposed fines on the several others for profiteering.

A team of local administration comprising special price magistrates led by Assistant Commissioner Ms Merhaba Nemat raided various markets and bazaars of Taxila to check prices of essential commodities.

Talking to newsmen during her surprise visit to the markets, Assistant Commissioner Ms Merhaba Nemat said that as many as 63 surprise visits were conducted during special drives against illegal profiteers and hoarders in Taxila and Wah including shopping malls.

She said that a fine of Rs178,000 was imposed over two dozen shopkeepers and traders for profiteering and hoarding.

She said the administration was making all out efforts to control artificial price hikes of sugar and wheat flour and it was taking solid steps to ensure supply of sugar and flour to the citizens at Ramzan bazaars as well as at fair price shops.

She said that all the special price magistrates were conducting raids to check prices of essential commodities and taking action in accordance with the law against profiteers and hoarders.
