SWABI: Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and Digital World Pakistan (DWP) Foundation have signed an agreement to provide scholarships to the needy but ‘capable’ students at undergraduate level.

The agreement was inked by Prof Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Rector GIK Institute, and Mohammad Farooq Naseem, vice-president of DWP Foundation, during a ceremony, according to a press release issued here on Tuesday.

Under the agreement, the DWP Foundation would provide Rs25 million grant for the purpose. The objective of the grant is to provide equitable opportunities of contemporary education to underprivileged but capable students.

The DWP Foundation has agreed to pay a scholarship grant for 15 students of the engineering and computer sciences programme for four years, starting from the current year.

ONE KILLED: An old enmity between two families claimed life of a man here on Tuesday, the police said.

SHO Swabi city police station Altaf Khan said deceased, Abdullah was on way home when rivals opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. He said an FIR was registered against Ijaz Khan and Mukamil Khan.

Meanwhile, the police arrested a two thieves and recovered five stolen motorcycles and other items from their possession on Tuesday.

District police officer Mohammad Shoaib Khan told Dawn that the arrested men had broken locks of a house in Topi and took away a motorcycle, solar panels, two batteries and a gas cylinder.

He identified the thieves as Qaiser Khan, a resident of Hamlet area, and Hukam Shah of Topi city.
