BAHAWALPUR: The police may launch an operation against criminals in the Katcha riverian areas of Rahim Yar Khan district in Bahawalpur division, it is learnt.

Reports say south Punjab Additional Inspector General of police (AIG) Dr. Ehsan Sadiq during his first visit here discussed the issue at a high-level meeting with Bahawalpur Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sher Akbar and DPO Aibadat Nisar on Tuesday.

According to AIG’s spokesman, the matters relating to the possibility of launching an operation in the Katcha areas came under discussion after RPO Sher Akbar gave a detailed briefing to AIG Dr Sadiq.

The spokesman says the meeting also discussed at length the law and order situation in the region.

A press release says AIG Dr. Ehsan Sadiq has directed the police force to take strict security measures during Ramazan and deploy personnel at shopping centres meant for women.
