FAISALABAD, Dec 3: The city district administration has cancelled all the agreements signed between the multinational and national companies and the defunct Tehsil Municipal Administration (City) for the installation of huge publicity boards. The hoardings will be removed from Dec 15.

This was stated by DCO Athar Husain Khan while presiding over a meeting of the officials concerned here on Saturday.

He said various companies had obtained NoCs from the TMA for the installation of boards and hoardings in the city. Following the dissolution of the TMA and establishment of four towns, these agreements had been cancelled and the companies concerned asked to approach the local administration, otherwise, the hoardings would be removed.

He revealed that the commercialization and publicity policy was being changed in the light of rapid growth in the city’s urban areas. The new policy would be enforced presently, he added.

The meeting also decided to appoint a consultant for designing of hoardings so that the plan could be geared up.

DBA: The District Bar Association has hailed the operation launched against encroachments in the city areas, especially eight bazaars and adjoining commercial centres, by the Lyallpur Town Administration and pledged cooperation in eliminating the menace.

At a meeting with DBA President Saleem Jehangir Chattha here on Saturday, the lawyers body observed that people had been facing problems owing to encroachments. The cemented and makeshift extensions to shops had become part of every commercial centre.

The markets in the city, they observed, presented a very bad look and high-rise buildings were dangerous for low quality of construction. They asked Lyallpur Town Nazim Rana Zahid Mahmood to continue the drive without paying heed to the protest calls and threats from the traders.

NAZIM: Lyallpur Town Nazim Chaudhry Ali Akhtar Khan has said D-Grounds of People’s Colony and the greenbelt on the Soosan Road were being re-designed.

Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, he said the plan to beautify the town had been chalked out with the help of the government departments. A survey was being conducted to beautify the greenbelts, parks and open places.

He said ornamental trees and flowerpots would be placed on the greenbelts along the main roads. Some other projects were being launched with the public and private partnerships, he added.
