ABBOTTABAD: Deputy inspector general of police, Hazara region, Mirwais Niaz on Thursday formally launched Ababeel Force in Abbottabad district to curb street crimes and work for a crime-free society.

The force would consist of squads of heavy motorcycles to carry out patrolling in the district and keep an eye on suspicious activities. Special training has been given to the officials so they can perform duties properly.

The DIG Hazara region visited the Abbottabad district headquarters and attended the inauguration ceremony of Ababeel Force as a special guest where he was received by DPO Zahoor Babar Afridi.

It was stated that Ababeel Force would work in major police stations of the district with the objective of preventing street crimes and acting as first responders in case of any crime.

Talking to mediapersons on the occasion, Mirwais Niaz said the force had started regular work in Peshawar city and keeping in view its performance it had been extended to other districts as well.

He said that it was hoped that the establishment of Ababeel Force would reduce street crimes in the district.
