SWABI: Two persons were killed and as many injured when members of rival families traded fire over a domestic dispute in Manki village of Chota Lahor tehsil here on Friday, the police said.

Police identified the deceased as Shah Pur from one group and Fazal Mehmood from the other. They said two people sustained injuries in the firing.

The bodies were shifted to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, for autopsy.

Separately, a man shot dead his son-in-law over a domestic issue in Kalabat village of Topi tehsil.

Police quoted Shah Jehan, father of the deceased, Habib Khan, as saying that his son’s father-in-law, Tilawat Shah allegedly opened fire on them, in which his son was killed on the spot and two people were injured. He told the police that his son’s wife had been living with her parents after developing differences with her husband.

The body was taken to Bacha Khan Hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Waleed Ahmad was allegedly killed by Faizul Amin and Raj Bahadar in Yousafi village over a domestic issue.

The deceased’s father got registered an FIR with the Zaida police station against the suspects.

In another incident, a young man, Salman Faraz, was killed by unidentified assailants in Topi tehsil. An FIR was registered against unknown suspects.

Also, an idea design competition was held among the students and teachers of the Women University Swabi on Friday.

Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness organised the event.

The participants designed innovative ideas and projects addressing thematic areas such as critical thinking, economic empowerment and inclusion, women empowerment, combating gender-based violence and strengthening women’s voices. The winners were given away Rs450,000 cash award.

WUS Vice-Chancellor Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi appreciated the foundation for providing opportunities to women to display their innovative skills.
