RAWALPINDI: A 12-year-old boy was shot dead during an encounter between police and a group of robbers in Pirwadhai.

Furthermore, police claim one of the suspects who sustained injuries during the encounter was arrested.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Ahad who was playing in the street when the encounter took place on Sunday night. Police tried to stop three suspicious persons during night patrolling in the area and in response, they opened fire at police.

Raids are underway to arrest the remaining two suspects who managed to escape from the scene.

Later, the body of the victim was handed over to his parents by police and a case was registered against the robbers.

On the other hand, City Police Officer Omar Saeed Malik met the family members of the deceased boy.

He was accompanied by SSP (Operations) Wasim Riaz Khan, SP Rawal, SDPO (city), SHO (Pirwadhai).

CPO Malik expressed grief over the tragic incident and prayed for the deceased boy.

SSP Khan apprised the CPO about the progress the investigation has made so far.
