KARACHI: A man was shot dead by armed robbers over resistance on the outskirts of the metropolis on Wednesday, police said.

Shah Latif Town SHO Mumtaz Marwat said that Rashid Khan was standing outside his home in Sector-22 B near Rehmania Masjid when armed muggers on a motorcycle appeared there. Khan offered resistance to their mugging attempt upon which one of them fired at him and rode away without looting anything.

The victim suffered a bullet wound in the leg. He died because of excessive bleeding, the SHO said.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for completing medico-legal formalities.

The SHO said apparently, it was a case of robbery related murder, but investigators were also looking into other possible motives.
