ISLAMABAD: The managing director of the state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) has tendered his resignation while many government departments saw transfers and postings of top officials.

Amir Manzoor tendered his resignation for personal reasons, however, informed sources told Dawn that he was asked to quit forthwith.

They said Mr Manzoor, a relative of former minister for information and broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, will also face an inquiry regarding purchases worth billions of rupees, hiring in the state run television channel and outsourcing evaluation of human resources in PTV.

When contacted, PTV spokesperson Sohail Bokhari did not comment.

Since the ouster of former prime minister Imran Khan on April 11 through a no-confidence motion, Mohammad Azam Khan, who was principal secretary to the prime minister (PSPM) was posted to the Establishment Division.

Dr Tauqeer Shah, who had served with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Punjab was made the PSPM. Likewise, Sohail Rajput was posted as chief secretary (Sindh).

The incumbent government gave acting charge of director general of Intelligence Bureau (IB) to Abdul Khalique Sheikh. The IB DG Dr Suleman is on a 90-day leave that was approved by the former prime minister, a day before his ouster.

On Wednesday, the Establishment Division notified the posting of three officers of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) to the Prime Minister Office, where as a BS-20 officer of Secretariat Group Mohammad Tariq, who was working as joint secretary in the PM Office, was posted to the Establishment Division. Three officers posted to the PM Office included BS-19 officers Mohammad Ali Randhawa and Sumair Ahmed Syed were working in Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan respectively and BS-18 officer Waseem Ahmed.

A BS-20 officer of Police Service of Pakistan Humayun Bashir Tarar, who was working in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been transferred to the interior ministry for onward posting to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Sources said Tarar may be posted in the Cyber Crime Circle of FIA; its current director Babar Bukhat Qureshi has been directed to report to the Establishment Division.

Ministry of National Food Security Additional Secretary Tahir Khursheed has also been posted to the Establishment Division while the charge of this ministry has been assigned to BS-21 officer retired Capt Asif for a period of three months.
