WORDING OF THE OATH: During the oath-taking ceremony of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif the other day, I was extremely disappointed to note that there was no mention of the word InShaAllah (God willing) in the entire statement of the oath. I strongly believe that the statement needs to be revised accordingly.

NOMENCLATURE: The government in Sindh has clarified that the name of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) has not been as the Sindh Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (SICVD), and that the latter is a separate entity that would be managing the outreach units in the province. However, I still think it would have been better if it continued with the word ‘national’ in the title.

RAMAZAN BREAK: The temperature in Jamshoro is touching 40 degrees centigrade these days. This is a serious issue for the students who travel to Jamshoro from different cities of the province, especially while fasting during Ramazan. The University of Sindh lacks facilities, like the classrooms are not equipped to cope with such high temperatures and the transport system is pathetic that keeps students wait for hours. The relevant authorities should consider closing the university or switching to online classes during Ramazan.

DISTRESS PACKAGE: The Ramazan relief package announced by the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) is more of a distress package than a discount package. Despite providing subsidy on many commodities, the prices are still high for the poor people. Sugar and flour are two essential items that are used in every household. It is impossible to live without them. But they are beyond the reach of the poor. The government should announce a proper full-scale relief package for the masses so that they may enjoy the blessings of the holy month.
