KARACHI: A fire broke out in Regent Plaza hotel on Saturday evening was timely controlled by fire fighters.

No one was hurt in the incident.

A Fire Brigade official said that the blaze broke out in the underground food department at around 5.37pm. Two fire engines put out the fire, however, cooling and smoke controlling work continued till 10pm.

The fire official said the hotel was filled with smoke and it took them considerable time to control it.

An adjacent office in food section was saved from complete destruction. The hotel official, Shahid Nadeem, was present during the efforts to extinguish the fire.

The cause of fire and estimation of loss could not be made immediately.
