KARACHI: A day after the power show of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, the city chapter of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party on Sunday decided to show its strength in the provincial metropolis by staging a rally to welcome party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari upon his arrival from Islamabad next week.

The PPP chairman is returning to Karachi after what his party described as the “successful culmination of his struggle” against the PTI regime.

“The people of Karachi will give a very warm reception to chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on April 22,” Sindh Information Minister and PPP-Karachi president Saeed Ghani told a press conference at his office.

“The PPP chairman will arrive at airport’s old terminal at 9pm on April 22. The city would witness the spirit of PPP workers and their love for their beloved leader,” he said.

Commenting about the PTI’s power show at Bagh-i-Jinnah, he said despite having 14 MNAs and 21 MPAs from Karachi, the party had failed to gather more than 30,000 people for its rally that was addressed by former prime minister Imran Khan.

He said Mr Khan during his three-and-half-year tenure as the PM had failed to execute a single mega project in Karachi. He said during the PTI regime, the people of Sindh had faced natural gas shortage while the country had to face unprecedented unemployment and inflation.

Mr Ghani said that people would soon come to know about the corrupt practices committed during Imran Khan’s government.

He also condemned the incidents of high-handedness faced by media persons at the PTI’s public meeting. He asked police to collect evidence to take action against culprits behind such incidents.
