BUREWALA HOSPITAL: The public-sector hospital in Burewala has multiple issues in the absence of essential facilities, such as equipment and medicines. A single patient bed in emergency ward is shared by two. Doctors are irregular and do not give proper attention to the patients.

The hospital remains crowded all the time due to the shortage of doctors and staff. The authorities concerned should take immediate action in this regard.

PUBLIC TOILETS: The condition of public toilets at the mausoleum of Bahauddin Zakariya and the tomb of Shah Rukn-i-Alam in Multan is deplorable. These monuments attract thousands of visitors, pilgrims and foreigners every year. Having access to hygienic washrooms is a basic need. It is disappointing that these historic sites lack such an essential facility. The relevant department should address the issue at the earliest.

SOCIAL ETHICS: I travel by green bus on a daily basis and see many elderly people standing throughout their journey owing to lack of seating capacity. Young students do not vacate their seats for these old and fragile people, and remain busy with their cellphones. What is the point of acquiring education if it fails to teach kindness, manners and respect? We all must try our best to help each other, especially the elderly.

TEST CENTRES: I have recently received a letter from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) advising me to appear in a test in Islamabad, which is about a thousand kilometres away from Shikarpur where I live. It is impossible for me to sit the test as I cannot afford the travelling expense. I have lost several opportunities in the past for the same reason. The ECP has offices in almost every district, including Shikarpur, but it compels the candidates to travel to other cities for test or interview. Why?
