KARACHI: The family of a three-year-old boy injured after getting stuck in the escalator of a shopping mall in Clifton, has decided to lodge a case against the management of the mall, it emerged on Tuesday.
Official sources said that the deputy commissioner of district South met the parents of baby Aman on orders of Karachi commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon and assured them of help and protection on behalf of the city administration. The commissioner had taken notice of reports of threats to the parents of the victim girl allegedly being extended by the shopping mall’s management.
The commissioner directed the deputy commissioner to probe the matter thoroughly.
The district administration was also directed to provide protection to the affected family.
Speaking to the victim’s parents during the meeting, DC Irshad Ali Sodher said that the district administration would extend them all possible help and protection.
SSP-South Rai Ijaz said that an FIR would be registered against the management of Ocean Mall on the complaint of the victim’s parents, if they desired so.
The tragic incident took place on Sunday when a three-year-old boy was injured after getting stuck in a malfunctioning escalator.
According to the child’s mother, they were riding the escalator up from the second floor to the third floor when the child’s foot got stuck in the escalator severely damaging his leg.
