PESHAWAR: Security forces killed a suspected terrorist during an encounter in the Datakhel area of North Waziristan tribal district on Tuesday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the encounter between security personnel and terrorists took place in Datakhel, adjacent to the Afghan border, where seven soldiers were martyred last week.

The ISPR said the terrorist killed in the encounter had been identified as Fareed Ahmed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from his possession. He was involved in terrorist activities against security forces.

In a separate incident, unidentified attackers shot dead two new recruits of Frontier Corps in Mirali town of North Waziristan tribal district on Monday night, police said. The deceased were identified as Adnan Mahmood and Shafiullah, who hailed from the Lachi area of Kohat district.

Police said the two recruits had stayed overnight at Hormez Adda in Mirali Bazaar where their bullet-riddled bodies were found. Their bodies were taken to tehsil headquarters hospital and later sent to their native town for burial.
