THATTA: The Sindh Health Services Hyderabad’s director general has recommended to the Sindh inspector general of police to impose ban on the production and sale of gutka, mainpuri, mava and other hazardous drugs across the province with special focus on coastal districts of Thatta, Sujawal and Badin.
The recommendation was made in an attempt to contain growing cases of oral cancer reported in the areas.
According to an official communication by the district focal person for the disease, more than 1,180 new cases of oral cancer were reported during March this year alone in the district.
