THATTA: An assistant sub-inspector, two constables and six private persons were booked on charges of theft and illegal sale of 22 official weapons and an uncountable number of cartridges from Sujawal police station’s malkhana on Wednesday.

According to an FIR lodged by SDPO of Sujawal police station Mohammad Yousuf Rudnani on behalf of state it transpired during handover of the malkhana’s charge following retirement of its in-charge ASI Hanif Kanad that 20 official weapons, including three G3 rifles, 19 pistols and an uncountable number of cartridges were missing.

The disclosure led to constitution of a probe committee headed by DSP Mohammad Gul Abbas, which found that ASI Hanif Kanad, PC’s Khudabux Laghari, Munawar Sehto and Ghulam Mustafa Mallah were involved in the theft and sale of the official weapons to six private suspects identified as Farooq Lohar, Madad Ali Tetri, Mohammad Ali Aamro, Waqar Laghari, Mushtaq Ahmed Laghari and Zubair Rahimoo.
