QUETTA: An accountability court on Wednesday sentenced official in charge of medicine store at Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Ahsan Tabassum, to seven-year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs12 million for embezzlement of medicines worth millions of rupees.

Judge Aftab Ahmed Lone of the accountability court pronounced the verdict. The National Accountability Bureau, Balochistan, had filed a reference in the accountability court against the official in charge of medicine store and the record keeper after completing investigation into the misappropriation of medicines in Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta.

It emerged during the investigation that medicines supplied to the BMC Hospital disappeared from the store without their entry into the system.
