SWABI: Unknown assailants shot dead a man identified as Ali Sher of Sheikh Jana village here on Sunday, said police.
Kalu Khan police said that two people riding a motorcycle came and opened fire on Ali Sher, leaving him seriously injured. He was taken to tehsil headquarters hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have registered the case.
PROTEST: Relatives of a deceased person placed his body on Swabi-Jehangira road as a protest, alleging that he died due to negligence of doctors of Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, on Sunday.
They said that they reached the hospital at 7am and for an hour none of the doctors was ready to give the injection to their patient Sajjad Khan, 51, a resident of Jalbai village of Chota Lahor tehsil.
They said they had brought the injection from a medical store outside the hospital. A police party led by SHO Niaz Ali held talks with members of the protesting family who later opened the road.
RAMAZAN PACKAGE: Al-Khidmat Foundation, a charity wing of Jamaat-i-Islami, has completed the task to give Ramazan package to about 400 deserving families and widows in the district and it plans to also give Eid package to the poor section of the society.
The organisers said on Sunday that the deserving families were selected through a transparent process initiated soon after start of Ramazan.
Speaking on the occasion, JI district chief Mian Iftikharuddin Bacha said the foundation provided the package only to the deserving people. Wajid Ali, district head of foundation, said the package included ghee, rice, pulses, dates and other items.
