KARACHI: Four persons suffered burns in an explosion in a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder shop in Lyari on Sunday, police and rescuers said.
City SP Ali Mardan Khoso said that the blast occurred in the LPG shop located on Faqir Muhammad Dura Khan Road, Juman Shah Plot.
He said that a woman came to the shop for getting a small cylinder filled with gas. The cylinder exploded during filling of the gas causing injuries to four persons.
He said that following the explosion a fire also broke out in the shop. The Kalakot police and fire engines rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident.
An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that four persons — Faizan, 16, who suffered 37 per cent burns, Rizwan, 22, with 18pc burns, Noman, 32, with 55pc burns and Salahuddin, 25, with 20pc burns — were admitted at the Burns Centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the city commissioner.
A spokesperson said that the chief minister issued instructions for better provision of medical facilities to the injured at the CHK.
