KHYBER: Electricity supply to entire Landi Kotal tehsil was abruptly suspended when four power pylons fell to the ground near Shagai area of Jamrud tehsil on Wednesday.

Staff at the Landi Kotal grid station said they suspected some miscreants had cut the steel structure of the four pylons in the mountainous area, which caused their collapse.

Khyber grid station executive engineer Shahid Khan told reporters that though a technical team had been sent to the affected area, the repair of the four damaged pylons would take at least one week.

The power suspension not only disrupted routine life, but also caused shortage of water in the entire tehsil of about 500,000 residents.
