KARACHI: A policeman was shot at and wounded during an encounter with armed robbers in Ittehad Town on Friday.

Area SHO Ayaz Khan said that the robbers snatched a cell phone and other valuables from a citizen in Orangi Town. An Orangi police team chased the fleeing suspects on the complaint of the robbery victim.

They traced the location of the suspects with the help of technology near Fatah Khan Hospital in Ittehad Town. The team rushed there and during an exchange of firing Constable Nadir, 50, suffered bullet wounds. However, the muggers managed to escape.

The policeman was shot twice in the abdomen and leg. He was taken to the Aga Khan University Hospital for treatment.
