NAWABSHAH, Jan 27: Over 30 students of People’s Medical College held a protest demonstration against the principal and college administration during the Sindh secretary health’s visit of the college on Saturday,

The protesting students were declared fail in the bi-annual examinations the result of which was announced on Thursday.

They demanded of the secretary health, Khalid Latif Chaudhry, to either give them grace marks or conduct a special supplementary examinations.

They chanted slogans against the irregular professors whom they held responsible for their failure and demanded of the secretary to take strict action against them.

Meanwhile three of the failed students of 2nd year MBBS tried to commit suicide on Friday after locking themselves in a hostel room but were saved as vice principal PMC, Anwar Akhund, interfered and persuaded them not to commit suicide, insiders told Dawn.

Earlier 124 students were declared fail in MBBS final examinations a few months ago.

They strongly protested against the principal and college administration and alleged that the professors were irregular. The principal PMC, Prof Azam Yousfani, admitted in a press conference that professors and college administration were responsible for the failure of students.

He also accepted that most of the professors remained absent from classes but no action was taken against the irregular professors. After the suicide case of Uma Devi, who was also declared fail, students protested against the principal and the college administration, but to no avail.
