KASUR: Rivals shot dead the wife of the Rangers deputy superintendent and injured five other family members, including two women, to settle an old score here on Wednesday in Canada Colony in the limits of Chunian police station.

According to complainant [deputy superintendent] Shoukat Ali, suspect Khadim had a grudge with Shaukat’s nephew over a trifle. On Wednesday, the suspect along with 14 accomplices stormed into his house and opened fire on the family sitting in the courtyard. As a result, complainant’s wife Kausar died on the spot while other family members - Rasheeda Begum, Zubaida Bibi, Shaukat, Haji Akram and Naveed Ahmed - suffered wounds. The injured were taken to Chunian THQ Hospital. The suspects had managed their escape while resorting to aerial firing.

In a separate incident, a man allegedly axed his maternal uncle to death for refusing his marriage proposal for the daughter of the victim on Thursday at village Mega in the limits of Sara-i-Mughal police station.

Faqeer Hussain nurtured a grudge against his uncle Amanat Ali who rejected suspect’s marriage proposal for his daughter. On Thursday, Hussain along with his accomplice forcibly entered the house of Amanat and allegedly axed him to death after an exchange of arguments. The suspects managed their escape.

Police have registered a case and are looking into the matter.
