They were Abdul Hameed, 60, Sajjad, 33, his wife Sanam Naz, 26, their daughters – Mishal, 7, and Eshal, 1 – and Minahil, 10.

Deputy Commissioner Khizar Afzaal visited the accident site and monitored the rescue operation.

Rescue 1122 spokesman Azeem Jutt said the injured were admitted to the Tibba Sultanpur rural health centre.

Police said the accident occurred owing to high speed of both vehicles. He said the bodies of six members of the family were handed over to their relatives after autopsy at the rural health centre (RHC).

They said the family belonged to Basti Malook area of Multan. Police registered a case against the van driver who fled after the accident.
