ISLAMABAD: A man committed suicide after killing his son and injuring his wife and daughter-in-law on Friday, police said.
The incident took place in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase II, where a retired deputy superintendent of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Mohammad Aziz first shot his son Ramiz, then shot his wife Ameer Sultana and daughter-in-law Nimra Ramiz, injuring them. He later committed suicide by shooting himself dead, they added.
A police spokesman said the retired government official lost his temper under unexplained circumstances. Hearing gunshots from the house, the neighbours and security guards rushed towards it and found bodies of the father and son along with the injured, police said, adding the injured were given medical assistance and kept in the hospital.
In her statement to police, Ms Sultana said her husband would often pull out a pistol during family arguments however this time, he actually did use it.
The spokesman further said that Mohammad Aziz used to pull out his pistol over petty issues and threatened his family with dire consequences. Over this practice, the family would hide his pistol, however, he bought another pistol after the family moved to Islamabad and used it on the family today, he added.
Meanwhile, a man was found dead at his house located in Margalla Town, police said. The victim was identified as Nasar Iqbal, they said, adding that earlier, the deceased’s brother, Sikandar Hayat, received a call from his nephew Shahzaib, informing him that his father had been murdered.
Mr Hayat reached Islamabad after getting no proper response from the wife and daughter of the deceased and found the house locked from outside, the police said, adding that later he along with police officials found the body in the basement.
It seems that the body was two to three days old, the police said, adding that the Nasar’s wife and daughter and his vehicle were missing.
Mr Hayat suspected that the deceased’s wife and daughter were behind the murder, the police added.
